Mbappe blasts ‘Fake News’ as rape allegation surfaces at hotel he stayed at in Sweden

Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe has vehemently branded reports of a rape incident in the hotel he had stayed in Stockholm as “FAKE NEWS!!!!” on social media.

The Real Madrid star’s outburst comes just a day before a crucial hearing with his former club, PSG, raising questions about the timing of these allegations.

According to RMC Sport in France, citing Swedish media, Stockholm police have opened an investigation into an alleged rape that reportedly occurred at the hotel where Mbappe and his camp, including PSG loanee Nordi Mukiele, stayed last week.

The complaint, said to have been filed by a young woman, describes an incident that took place on Thursday in central Stockholm.

Mbappe’s trip to Sweden, which included dining at Chez Jolie restaurant and visiting the V nightclub on Stureplan square, had already stirred controversy.

Images of the French captain partying while his national team played against Israel in the Nations League sparked widespread reactions.

In his social media response, Mbappe suggested a connection between the timing of these allegations and his upcoming hearing with PSG, stating, “It’s becoming so predictable, just before the hearing as if by chance.”

The hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, will take place before the Appeals Tribunal of the Professional Football League (LFP).

At stake is a sum of €55 million that Mbappe is claiming from PSG, comprising a loyalty bonus and three months of unpaid salary. PSG are contesting this claim.

On September 12, the French League ordered PSG to pay these amounts, but the club appealed against the decision. The Appeals Tribunal is expected to deliver a verdict after hearing representations from both parties.

Mbappe’s reaction to the reports of the alleged rape incident at the hotel where he had stayed in Stockholm seems to insinuate a smear campaign against him by his former club and French media a day before the hearing.
