BRONX, N.Y.  (Nov. 30, 2024) – The Fordham men’s basketball team will return to the friendly confines of the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday when it welcomes New Hampshire for a 2 p.m. tilt.

The contest will air live on ESPN+ with Andrew Bogusch and Andrew Posadas on the call. 90.7 FM WFUV will also carry the game over the airwaves with Nick Guzman and Chaz McAdams narrating the action.

Saturday will serve as the third annual Tom Konchalski Classic, as Fordham will honor the life and legacy of a legendary alumnus, Tom Konchalski, FCRH ’68.  The publisher of High School Basketball Illustrated for nearly four decades, Konchalski was widely regarded as the nation’s most authoritative voice on high school basketball.  A trusted confidant of countless college and professional coaches, Konchalski received the John Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023, two years after his death in February of 2021 following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Fordham (3-5) returns to the Bronx looking to snap a three-game skid.  The Rams fell to Drexel, 73-71, last Friday night at Rose Hill, as Jackie Johnson III’s game-tying attempt fell short in the closing seconds.  The Rams then went to the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach, where they dropped decisions to Penn State and San Francisco.

Johnson was the Rams’ leading scorer in all three of those games, going for 18 against Drexel, 15 against Penn State and 17 against the Dons.  On the season, Johnson leads the team and ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 with 18.3 points per game.  He has connected on a team-high 18 triples and also ranked second on the squad with 2.5 assists per contest.

Sophomore Jahmere Tripp has impressed since making his debut on Nov. 19 against Georgian Court.  After reaching double figures just once as a freshman, the Brooklyn native has done so in all four of his appearances this season.  Tripp has been the Rams’ best 3-pointer shooter in terms of efficiency, connecting on six of his 10 tries, including a 3-for-6 showing from deep in the team’s last outing against San Francisco.  He’s also averaging 2.3 steals and 2.5 assists per outing.

New Hampshire heads to the Bronx with a record of 2-8 on the season.  Both wins came against Division III teams, as the Wildcats took down UMass Boston and Endicott at home.

Anthony McComb III leads the way for UNH, averaging 14.4 points in 10 starts.  The Bowling Green transfer scored a season-high 24 points against UMass Boston and added 22 in a loss to Sacred Heart on Nov. 16.

Fordham is 2-0 all-time against New Hampshire with wins during the 2008-09 and 2022-23 seasons.  That most recent victory, a 79-61 victory for the Rams, came during Head Coach Keith Urgo‘s first year at the helm of the program.  Darius Quisenberry scored 17 points while Khalid Moore added 16 for the Rams.  Will Richardson, then a freshman, posted seven points in 21 minutes of action.

Saturday’s contest with UNH will mark the first of three straight home games for Fordham, which will also host FDU on Wednesday night before welcoming Maine on Sunday, Dec. 8.
