Trinamool Congress rebel MP Sukhendu Sekhar Ray posted a cricket analogy depicting clean-bowled action with the middle stump falling off following the arrest of former principal of RG Kar MCH Sandip Ghosh by the CBI in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the medical establishment during his tenure.
Ray’s post assumes a significance as his relationship with his party seems to have hit a wall after his critical comments on Kolkata Police’s investigation of alleged rape and murder of the RG Kar hospital post-graduate trainee on August 9.
“Middle stump unrooted, what next,” Ray wrote in his post on X.
When the TMC leadership was still scrambling to present the party’s stand, Ray decided to sit on a dharna over the gruesome incident and called it ‘satyagraha’. During the dharna, in a media interaction, he stated in no uncertain words that he believed the Kolkata Police investigation wasn’t proper.
Ray had also demanded a custodial interrogation of Kolkata Police Commissioner and Sandip Ghosh in connection with its probe into case, prompting Kolkata Police to serve him a notice.
Justice served by God: Santanu Sen
Trinamool Congress leader Santanu Sen, who had criticised Sandip Ghosh and the affairs of the state’s health department after the doctor’s murder, feels vindicated after the arrest of former principal of RG Kar Hospital.
“Justice served by God. It has been proven that I didn’t say anything wrong. I had shared all information about this corruption at the right place long ago,” he said in a post on Facebook.
Sen was removed from the post of the TMC spokesperson last month after he took a stand different from the party line.
In a video message, Sen said he got to know from media reports that he had been removed from the post of TMC spokesperson.
“I would like to say two things: whenever I gave a statement as a spokesperson, I neither spoke against the party nor any leader… I stand by what I said from the beginning–the news related to the Health Department is not being accurately conveyed to the CM and Health Minister Mamata Banerjee,” Sen had said.

The anti-corruption branch of CBI arrested the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the medical establishment during his tenure. Ghosh was questioned by the CBI for over two weeks over the alleged rape and murder of the RG Kar hospital post-graduate trainee on August 9.
