MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – On Wednesday, a Minot High boys basketball player put pen to paper on the next stage of his career.
Aric Winczewski signed his letter of intent to Dickinson State.
The Magi senior was accompanied by his family, including his head coach and father Dean Winczewski, teammates and Blue Hawks head coach Derek Selvig.
Aric reflects on his recruiting process.
“I visited a couple of schools before, a couple in the North Star [Conference], it’ll be the new Frontier [Conference]. I think just how I felt leaving Dickinson, the feeling I got. That’s how I knew that where I wanted to be,” said Aric Winczewski.
Aric and his family used to live in the Queen City when he was young. For Dean, this is a full-circle moment, both as a coach and a father.
“We’re just really pleased, like I said. For a place that we know very well, my wife’s from there. There’s a comfort level there and we’re just extremely proud of him,” said Dean Winczewski.
The Magicians are currently holding open gym twice a week and begin practice in November.
