The New Berlin Police Department confirmed Saturday that a man who had been missing since Thursday was found dead in his overturned vehicle in an Illinois creek.
Police said Benjamin Oberto of New Berlin was located at about 3:40 p.m. Friday by Illinois State Police near Interstate 90 eastbound and Interstate 294 northbound in the Chicago area. Oberto died at the scene.
Oberto was a father of two and was last seen leaving a restaurant in Crystal Lake, Illinois, surveillance footage showed.
His wife, Laura Leatherberry, told WISN-TV in Milwaukee that she last heard from her husband on Wednesday night when he said he would be home in time to tuck in their 3-year-old son.
