DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Multiple vehicles traveled the wrong way on I-83 southbound, causing a crash and a tractor-trailer to veer off the road to avoid another collision in Dauphin County early this morning.
According to PennDOT, on Dec. 21, 2024, at around 1:30 a.m., three vehicles entered I-83 at Lemoyne and headed north in the southbound lanes. PennDOT says one vehicle realized the error and turned around, while the other two continued traveling the wrong way.
PennDOT says the two vehicles later crashed near the Paxton Street overpass. A tractor-trailer then approached and veered off the road, possibly to avoid the passenger vehicles, per PennDOT.
