Officials name two victims from recent vehicle crashes in Corpus Christi

Date:

The names of two victims from recent vehicle collisions in Corpus Christi have been released.

On Dec. 19, a major traffic crash at the intersection of Saratoga Boulevard and South Staples Street ended in the death of a 30-year-old man. Andrew Magill was ejected from his motorcycle after he was struck by a vehicle whose operator was showing “signs of intoxication,” according to a release from the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Katelyn Yeager, 23, was charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer. According to VINE, a victim notification system, Yeager posted bond and was out of custody Dec. 23. Her bond totaled $511,000.

Ulysses Herrera, 24, was another victim of a motorcycle crash that occurred Dec. 22 near the 2700 block of Saratoga Boulevard. Officers determined the driver of an SUV was traveling made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, which struck Herrera causing him to be ejected, a news release said.

Officers determined the driver of the SUV did not show signs of intoxication, the news release said, and the name of the driver was not revealed. But officers told the Caller-Times the driver was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.

Joe Hayen, director of operations for the Nueces County chief medical examiner’s office, said the male victim from another Dec. 22 collision still remains unknown as of Friday.

Officers reported 20-year-old Nadine Tijerina struck a man, who was not walking in a crosswalk, near the 4800 block of Ayers Street. She was charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.

As of Friday, Tijerina remains in custody at the Nueces County Jail with a bond set at $200,000.
