Power 10 for the week of Dec. 23, 2024

1. UCLA (Previously 1)

UCLA has cruised to an undefeated 12-0 record and is ready to take on Big Ten play.

2. South Carolina (Previously 2)

The Gamecocks will close out the regular season against Wofford before SEC action starts in 2025.

3. Notre Dame (Previously 3)

The Irish’s hot streak continues as Olivia Miles recorded her fifth triple-double against Loyola Maryland.

4. Southern California (Previously 5)

How about a statement win on the road to take down then-No. 4 UConn for the first time ever? Juju Watkins delivered in a highly anticipated rematch of last year’s Elite Eight game. A team win overall with nine threes!

5. UConn (Previously 4)

The Huskies now sit behind Notre Dame and USC. Both teams put blemishes on UConn’s season. Azzi Fudd is back but only saw eight minutes of action. Big East play is next.

6. LSU (Previously 6)

Still undefeated, but given that every team in my current top five has lost to each other, I kept them outside for now. The Tigers’ next challenge is set when SEC play tips off on Jan. 2 vs. Arkansas.

7 & 8. Maryland and Texas (Previously 7 & 8)

No movement here; Maryland and Texas stay at No. 7 and No. 8.

9. Oklahoma (Previously 10)

Picking up its second-ranked win of the season over Michigan thanks to a balanced attack, including production off the bench from the Sooners.

10. Ohio State (Previously NR)

The Buckeyes are undefeated, credit to their endless offensive firepower and hanging their hats on the defensive end with constant pressure. Cotie McMahon’s expansion of her game has been a game-changer for this team.

Dropped out

Duke — Suffered an upset to South Florida, 65-56.

JuJu Watkins, No. 7 Southern Cal survive No. 4 UConn’s second half comeback, win 72-70

Juju Watkins and No. 7 Southern Cal survive No. 4 UConn’s 18-point second half comeback and win 72-70 in matchup against Paige Bueckers.
