A Canadian travel agent was sentenced to 100 days in jail, after being convicted of scamming customers out of thousands of dollars.
Jie Yu Ai must also serve probation and pay restitution of $32,350.
She was the sole director and officer of World Travel Inc in Ontario.
Ai and World Travel Inc. were convicted of failure to hold money collected from customers for travel services in a trust account and furnishing false information or documents among several charges.
World Travel Inc. was a TICO-registered travel agency but had its registration suspended and then revoked a year ago.
The Ontario Court of Justice heard Ai received payments for airline tickets but used the money for other purposes.
The clients were later sent false flight booking confirmations.
World Travel Inc. continued operating after its TICO registration was revoked.
