Patrick Mahomes, Hollywood Brown officially active for Chiefs-Texans

Date:

While there hasn’t been much question it would be the case during the practice week, Patrick Mahomes is officially active for Saturday’s matchup between the Chiefs and Texans.

Mahomes was a full participant in practice all week and did not have an injury designation, despite head coach Andy Reid leaving the door ajar in his Friday press conference by saying, “We’ll most likely end up playing him.”

Mahomes has completed 66.7 percent of his passes this season for 3,348 yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

The Chiefs will also have another weapon at receiver on the field, as Hollywood Brown is active and set to make his Kansas City debut. He’s been sidelined by a shoulder injury suffered in the first preseason game. Brown signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs in the offseason.

While Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal was added to the injury report with an illness on Friday, he is active.

Kansas City’s inactives are defensive back Chamarri Conner, defensive end Joshua Uche, offensive lineman C.J. Hanson, left tackle D.J. Humphries, offensive tackle Ethan Driskell, defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu, and defensive end Malik Herring.

For the Texans, there were no surprises on their inactives list. While linebacker Christian Harris was listed as questionable after he didn’t participate on Thursday with an ankle injury, he is active.

Receiver John Metchie, linebacker Devin White, defensive end Jerry Hughes, guard Nick Broeker, offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, tight end Cade Stover, and defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi are inactive for Houston.

Having already clinched the AFC West, the Chiefs will clinch the AFC’s No. 1 seed this weekend with a victory and a Buffalo loss to New England.
