Penguins Acquire Minor League Defenseman From Buffalo Sabres

Date:

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired 29-year-old defenseman Colton Poolman from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for 23-year-old Bennett MacArthur.

According to the team’s press release, Poolman will report directly to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In five games this season with the Rochester Americans, he’s collected a single assist and was minus-2.

Since leaving the University of North Dakota after the 2019-20 season, Poolman has played in the AHL with the Stockton Heat. The organization relocated to Calgary when it became the Wranglers in 2022-23. He’s scored six career goals and 40 points in 218 games.

Meanwhile, the Penguins dealt away MacArthur, who hasn’t skated in the AHL this season but has played 28 games with the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL. He’s tallied seven points, three goals, and four assists.

MacArthur has played just six AHL games in his career with no points but has 67 points, including 24 goals, in 136 games in the ECHL.
