PSG Keen to Trigger Release Clause for Barcelona and Chelsea-Linked Argentine Youngster

River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono has caught the attention of several top European clubs. However, despite the interest, the 17-year-old didn’t make a move this past summer.

The Argentine side seem firm on their asking price for the highly sought-after teenager, Mastantuono. With his contract running until 2026, there’s no immediate pressure to sell unless a club meets its valuation.

Mastantuono has made 32 appearances across all competitions for the Argentine club, contributing three goals and two assists.

Argentinian journalist Renzo Pantich reports (h/t Le10Sport) that PSG have made Mastantuono their top priority and the capital club are prepared to trigger his release clause from River Plate.

The clause is currently set at €40 million but could increase to €45 million in the final ten days of each transfer window.

Over the last couple of years, PSG has been linked to South American gems like Endrick and Estêvão but has fallen short. River Plate’s attacking midfielder could sign for PSG and move to the capital as early as January.

However, the two clubs might agree to let him stay on loan at River until the end of the season. If PSG triggers the release clause and Mastantuono decides to join Paris, River Plate will have no say.

Nonetheless, there’s competition for the Argentine teenager as Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea are all reportedly keen on the player.
