Paris Saint-Germain will have a decision coming up regarding their right-back position, Achraf Hakimi’s contract expires in 2026 and while he reportedly intends to extend his deal, nothing is signed yet.
Moreover, there’s not much depth behind Hakim, so if the player goes down, PSG are in trouble. As a result, the Parisians are monitoring a young right-back to either replace Hakimi should the player not extend or be a backup.
The Independent reported on Thursday that Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong is attracting interest from top European clubs. According to the report, Real Madrid are considering a January move for Acheampong, seeing him as both a short-term solution at right back and a key piece for the future of their defense.
Moreover, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Tottenham are all monitoring him, and Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are also tracking his situation.
Although several top clubs have shown interest, Chelsea remains firm in its stance that it won’t sell one of the prized talents from its Cobham academy.
Even though the Blues see him as a key part of their future, Real Madrid are considering testing that resolve in January. With his contract running until June 2026, it will be interesting to see if other clubs also decide to challenge the Blues’ stance.
