WEST LAFAYETTE – Purdue basketball’s 2025 class added its first member on Tuesday.
Toledo Whitmer guard Antione West announced his commitment to the Boilermakers over Nebraska. The 6-3, 175-pound shooter is a three-star prospect ranked No. 163 in the 247Sports national composite.
Purdue initially expected to prioritize the frontcourt in its 2025 class, perhaps taking only one player at that position. However, the NCAA’s roster adjustments, allowing for more than 13 scholarships per team, allowed Matt Painter to pivot to additional needs.
West took an official visit to Purdue in September after being offered a scholarship in May. He averaged 20.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists while leading Whitmer to the final four of the state tournament last season.
As an incoming freshman, West would join a guard group expected to include current returning starters Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer, reserve Myles Colvin and current freshmen Jack Benter, CJ Cox and Gicarri Harris.
West becomes the second player to commit to the Boilermakers after their run to the 2024 national championship game. Mount Vernon guard Luke Ertl committed to the 2026 class in August.
