Rain, heavy winds are headed to SLO County. Here’s a look at the weather forecast

Date:

Break out your umbrellas, San Luis Obispo County. As a classic ‘80s band once said: “Here comes the rain again.”

A storm passing through the Central Coast could dump between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain on San Luis Obispo County in the coming week, meteorologist John Lindsey said.

But the weather won’t be as serious as it is in other parts of California, where people living north of the Golden Gate Bridge are grappling with the first atmospheric river storm of the season.

Here’s a look at what to expect from the weather forecast leading up to Thanksgiving Day.

What to expect from SLO County rain storm

San Luis Obispo County is in for windy, rainy weather starting Friday night, the National Weather Service said.

The Weather Service placed a wind advisory on SLO County beaches and the Carrizo Plain, Shandon, Cambria, Creston and Arroyo Grande from 8 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

The Weather Service warned of south winds between 10 and 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Drive cautiously, it advised.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects,” the Weather Service forecast said. “Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result.”

On Friday, San Luis Obispo could receive up to a half inch of rain, with a 30% chance of rain after 4 p.m. and a 90% chance of rain after 10 p.m., the Weather Service said.

Meanwhile, a sprinkle of rain may fall on Paso Robles after 4 p.m., making way for a 90% chance of rain after 10 p.m.

On Saturday, the Weather Service forecast a 80% chance of rain for San Luis Obispo, with wind gusts as high as 15 mph.

Rain will likely fall in Paso Robles on Saturday before 10 a.m. and again in the evening.

Sunday comes with mostly cloudy conditions in San Luis Obispo with a 40% chance of rain during the day and a 60% chance of rain after 10 p.m.

Sunday will be partly sunny in Paso Robles with a high near 60 degrees and a 60% chance of rain after 10 p.m.

For Monday, the Weather Service forecast a high near 59 degrees and an 80% chance of rain in both Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.

San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles expect partly cloudy skies with a chance of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The rain could persist all the way to Thanksgiving.

San Luis Obispo County could receive between 0.50 and 1.50 inches of rain on Thanksgiving Day, Lindsey said.
