Real Madrid Star’s Bold Move Sparks Tension with PSG Amid Financial Dispute

Date:

Despite Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain beginning new chapters, the two remain embroiled in a financial dispute. Last month, a report surfaced that the 25-year-old reported this issue to the LFP’s legal committee, citing article 259 of France’s professional football charter.

Le Monde reported last month that the Frenchman has still not received €55 million provided for in his contract with PSG.

The French outlet reported that Mbappé had taken the issue to the legal committee of the French Professional Football League (LFP) and, through the French Football Federation (FFF), to UEFA. The report also noted that Mbappé had first brought the issue to the LFP’s legal committee on August 8, citing article 259 of France’s professional football charter.

This article states that “wages must be paid by clubs to players under contract by the last day of each month at the latest, under the conditions of ordinary law.”

In an interview with Europe 1, Cyril Hanouna, who is close to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, spoke about the ongoing conflict between the French giants and the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer.

“Nasser Al-Khelaifi never expected, believe me, that Kylian Mbappé would pull such a fast one on him,” Hanouna said (h/t Le10Sport). “I promise you, Al-Khelaifi is genuinely a kind person.

“He thought there was an unspoken agreement between him and Mbappé—that no matter what happened, Mbappé would repay PSG by agreeing to a deal and allowing them to get some money from the transfer. When that didn’t happen, it strained their relationship. Nasser is a man of his word; when he makes a promise, he keeps it.”
