Report: Cowboys will waive Ezekiel Elliott

Date:

Running back Ezekiel Elliott’s return to the Cowboys is reportedly coming to a close before the end of the regular season.

NFL reporter Josina Anderson reports that the Cowboys will waive Elliott this week. Elliott reportedly asked the team for his release.

Any team could claim Elliott off of waivers and he will be a free agent if no one decides to go that route.

Elliott played his first seven NFL seasons with the Cowboys and returned this offseason after spending 2023 with the Patriots. Elliott ran 74 times for 226 yards and three touchdowns in his 15 appearances this season, so his role was a far more limited one than the one he played in his first stint with the team. Elliott also sat out one game for disciplinary reasons.
