Report reveals Kylian Mbappe’s annual salary at Real Madrid in his debut season

Kylian Mbappe arrived at Real Madrid during the summer transfer window on a free transfer, signing a five-year contract.

The French superstar’s signing was met with great fanfare and celebrated by the fans as one of the best had joined a team who were already the champions of Spain and Europe.

However, things have not gone according to plans so far for Mbappe and Real Madrid as the 25-year-old has looked out of place in his role as a No. 9 while the changes made to the blueprint to fit him in have affected other players adversely as well.

Amidst all the talk of Mbappe’s slow start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu, journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon has come forward with an update on his earnings at the club.

How much does Mbappe earn at Real Madrid?

Upon his arrival at Real Madrid in June, reports confirmed that Mbappe would be earning significantly less than the €72 million salary he pocketed in his final season at PSG. However, the €150 million signing bonus, split across five years, would make up for it.

It was subsequently reported that the France captain would be the highest earner at the club with a gross salary of around €26 million.

However, now, journalist Ramon Alvarez has come out with an update, suggesting that Mbappe would be taking home a wage of €36 million, including bonuses in his first season at Real Madrid.

To reach this conclusion, the journalist compared the salary budget of last season and the estimated one for this course.

In this sense, he noted that Real Madrid closed the 2023/24 season with an expenditure of €504 million on player salaries, while the forecast for 2024/25 is €482 million.

However, of those €504 million for last season, €40 million correspond to title bonuses, which are not included in the current budget as they are not typically accounted for in salary projections.

As such, Real Madrid plan to spend €482 million instead of the €464 million it had budgeted for last season without counting the bonuses.

Real Madrid would have freed up wage space with the departures of Toni Kroos (around €20 million), Nacho Fernandez (€10 million), Joselu (€2 million gross) and the halving of Luka Modric’s salary from €24 million to €12 million.

Furthermore, the club has reduced basketball expenses by an estimated €4 million. All this analysis leads to the conclusion that Mbappe’s wages for this season at Real Madrid would be around €36 million, including bonuses.
