Report: Roma exclude Nicola Zalewski from first team after player turns down Galatasaray

Date:

Roma have reportedly taken a drastic action in the aftermath of Nicola Zalewski’s decision to turn down Galatasaray.

The sage involving the Turkish giants and Zalewski seems to have concluded in the worst way possible for all parties involved.

Today’s edition of Il Messaggero claims Roma are furious with the player.

About ten days ago, the club offered Zalewski the option to renew his contract given the current deal’s expiry date in June 2025.

However, with Galatasaray coming onto the stage, Roma encouraged Zalewski to accept the Turkish side’s proposal instead.

When the negotiations between the club seemed to have stalled on Wednesday evening, Zalewski was once again ready to sit down to talk about the renewal.

Roma’s final agreement with Galatasaray that took place yesterday instead changed the scenarios for the umpteenth time. At that point it was Roma who put pressure on the player who thought better of it and said no.

Thus, Roma seem to have decided to exclude Zalewski from the first team.

Whether this is a test of strength to force him to accept Galatasary’s proposal by today (when the Turkish market closes) will be understood shortly.
