Sen. Lindsey Graham to Republicans supporting Harris: ‘What the hell are you doing?’

Date:

South Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday slammed members of his own party who are supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential bid, asking them, “What the hell are you doing?”

“You’re supporting the most radical nominee in the history of American politics,” Graham said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”

Several high-profile Republicans have endorsed Harris in recent weeks, including former GOP Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger and several former members of the Trump administration.

“The danger to this country is the policies of Biden and Harris,” Graham added. “Her fingerprints are all over this disaster. And I can’t take four more years of this crap.”

His remarks came as he faced several questions from moderator Kristen Welker about Trump’s escalating rhetoric in recent weeks, including comments he made several times last week calling Democrats the enemy from within.”

At a rally in Coachella, California, this month, Trump referred to Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., as “the enemy from within.” And on Sunday morning, during a pretaped Fox News interview, Trump doubled down, calling Schiff “the enemy from within again” and applying the phrase to “radical-left lunatics.”

As Trump’s comments drew criticism from Democrats, the former president doubled down, referring to “the enemy from within” again in a podcast taping and during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

On an episode of the “OutKick” podcast, he said, “We have a bigger problem from within and they hate it,” adding: “It’s a narrative they don’t like.”

Graham largely dismissed the comments, telling Welker, “We’re winning, and going to win, not because of what Donald Trump’s saying, but because of what they’ve done for four years.”

The senator argued that Americans are seeking a change in policy ideas this election and tied Harris to the outgoing Biden administration. “When Vice President Harris is asked, ‘What would you do different?’ she says, ‘Nothing comes to mind,’” he said.

Graham appeared to be referring to comments Harris originally made on “The View” earlier this month, for which she has been criticized by Republicans.

Asked by the hosts of that show whether she would have done anything differently than Biden, Harris simply said that “there is not a thing that comes to mind.”
