A Southwest Airlines flight to Ohio returned to Phoenix on Monday evening after a fight broke out between two passengers.
The incident happened on Flight 1699, which took off from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Columbus, Ohio, just before 7 p.m., according to Southwest Airlines officials.
“We apologize for the disruption and are working to get our Customers to Columbus, Ohio, as soon as possible,” the airline said in an email statement obtained by The Arizona Republic.
Phoenix police said officers responded once the flight returned to its gate just before 9 p.m. Police said neither of the two passengers involved in the altercation was “cooperative with criminal investigation.”
One of the passengers was removed from the flight before the plane took off again, police said. No arrests were made.
Police did not identify either person involved, nor did they release any details about how the fight started.
The investigation was ongoing.
