Sports Briefs: WeBo Volleyball, Tennis pick up wins

Sep. 4—WeBo Volleyball

The Western Boone volleyball team made quick work of Southmont on Wednesday winning 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-11).

Raegan Durbin had 18 kills, five aces and five digs for the Stars. Sadie Poeck had 11 kills, eight digs and three aces.

Janie Ransom had 37 assists and five digs and Isabell Grady had five kills. Olivia Smith had seven digs and four aces.

The Stars are back in action next Tuesday when they travel to face Danville.

WeBo Tennis

On Wednesday, the Stars defeated Tri-West 4-1.

At No. 1 singles, Gavin Hawkins topped Eric Dean 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 2 singles, Jon Rutherford topped Colton Lash 6-0, 6-0 and at No. 3 singles, Jacob Collins topped Kaden Simmons 6-0, 6-1.

At No. 1 doubles, Owen Oakley and Easton Nance topped Graham Willhelm and Landry Slagle 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, Eli Mitchell and Logan Cripe lost to Wyatt McMillan and Michael Gibson 6-4, 6-4.
