Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has shared his thoughts on the signing of Federico Chiesa after the Reds completed the signing of the Juventus forward earlier today.
It is not often that a club legend with the calibre of Gerrard declares their views on a new signing before a ball is kicked.
But the former England international took to Instagram today to highlight his approval of the 26- year- old.

Posting on his Instagram story, Gerrard expressed his excitement at the completion of the deal.
It appears as though Gerrard’s compliments of Chiesa are not one- sided; the Italian forward revealed his admiration of the ex- Liverpool skipper earlier this week by connoting he was the better midfielder in comparison to Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.
Chiesa has earnt plenty of plaudits in the build- up to his move to Anfield, including that of Italian football expert Mina Rzouki.
Speaking to Sky Sports news, Rzouki stated “He’s an incredibly direct player, he can play on the left or right – he can even play as a second striker although he’s not a huge fan of doing that.”
“You need to just watch the Euro 2020 match against Spain, and even in the final. It’s his acceleration, his dribbling, his top speed, he covers a lot of ground.”
“He was brilliant to watch under Andrea Pirlo, so agile, direct and mobile and was always coming to Juventus’ rescue.”
Chiesa earned plenty of plaudits during his spell at Juventus
The winger becomes the first senior signing of the Arne Slot era, putting pen to paper on a four- year deal for a fee of £10m.
When will Chiesa play for Liverpool?
Chiesa is expected to join Slot’s plans immediately, with Darwin Nunez receiving a five- game suspension by CONMEBOL for his actions after Uruguay’s 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Semi- Final of this summer’s Copa América.
The news of Nunez’s ban comes amidst rumours of his departure to Arsenal. However, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has since dismissed any claims of a move to the Capital.
Could Nunez’s actions be a catalyst for an exit from the club?
Whilst Nunez is currently set to stay, the addition of Chiesa provides Liverpool with extra firepower up- front as they re- enter the UEFA Champions League after a year out.
Chiesa played a vital role in ensuring his former side Juventus a place in the competition, converting 10 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions for The Old Lady in his final season at the club
