The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announces October General Conference schedule

Date:

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the schedule for October’s semi-annual general conference, which will be held at the Conference Center in Downtown Salt Lake City.

The conference will take place Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 in five two-hour sessions. Saturday will have morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. Sunday will have morning and afternoon sessions.

What is the Latter-day Saint general conference?

The announcement came on Sept. 5, ahead of a busy weekend for the LDS church’s First Presidency, celebrating President and Prophet Russell M. Nelson’s 100th birthday on Monday, Sept. 9.

The church’s First Presidency, which consists of President Nelson and his two counselors — President Henry B. Eyring and President Dallin H. Oaks — announced the sessions in a letter intended to be read to all congregations, known as branches or wards.

“General sessions for all individuals, families, and friends will be held Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening, October 5, as well as Sunday morning and afternoon, October 6. The conference will be broadcast on the Church satellite system, ChurchofJesusChrist.org, and other media,” the letter stated.

The sessions are streamed on the General Conference YouTube channel, and the Gospel Library app along with the aforementioned website.

Sessions of general conference can also be attended in person, and members of all faith backgrounds are invited to watch, listen, and participate, the church said.

As of the writing of this article, due to construction on Temple Square, 18,000 people are being allowed to attend inside the conference center. No standby seating is available due to the aforementioned renovations.
