“The situation is…” – Expert’s update on Arsenal star’s future amid Saudi transfer links

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is only focused on his current club and the season ahead despite ongoing transfer speculation about his future, whether that’s with a possible move to the Saudi Pro League or taking up a coaching role at the Emirates Stadium.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who spoke exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column to play down the recent rumours about Jorginho possibly leaving Arsenal, or stepping down as a player to become a part of Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff.

Romano seems convinced there’s nothing genuine to these stories, and he made it clear that all he’s hearing is that Jorginho is focused on this important season for Arsenal, which is still only in the very early stages.

Jorginho transfer: Fabrizio Romano plays down Arsenal exit talk

When asked for his understanding of the Jorginho situation, Romano said: “The situation is that Jorginho is only thinking about this season. It’s an important season for Arsenal, I don’t think all these links for Jorgi, Saliba etc are genuine and are good for the club… it’s only the beginning of October, the season started just 50 days ago.”

He added: “Jorginho’s full focus is on present, on Arsenal, not on moving into coaching and not on making the move to Saudi.”

Jorginho has not always been a regular starter for Arsenal, but he’s never let the team down when Arteta has asked him to come in as cover.

The experienced Italy international surely still has a role to play for the Gunners, who will need plenty of squad depth over the course of this season, so fans can perhaps rest easy that the 32-year-old is not thinking about leaving the club any time soon.

Jorginho was previously a hugely important player at his former club Chelsea, and though his role is different at Arsenal, he could still play his part in what the north Londoners will hope and believe can be a highly successful season.
