ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – A new study finds that one city in the St. Louis region ranks among the “fastest-growing” in the nation.
The designation comes from GoBankingRates.com. A research team recently compiled data on cities with home values below $500,000 that also noticed a significant population increase from 2020 to 2022.
According to the study, Wentzville, Missouri was named among the fastest-growing cities on the list.
Wentzville ranked 41st out of 50 featured cities. It had an average home value of around $380,000 as of July and a population increase of more than 10% from 2020 to 2022, according to the study.

The study also claimed Wentzville, Missouri to be a suburb. While the city is indeed part of the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan Area, some consider it more of an exurb than a suburb of St. Louis due to its distance from the major city (more than 40 miles from the City of St. Louis) and rural surroundings.
Still, Wentzville’s rapid growth and development have made it a key player in the St. Louis region’s demographics, recently climbing into the state of Missouri’s Top 15 cities in population.

The fastest-growing city, according to the study, was considered to be Mooresville, North Carolina near Charlotte. It has an average home value of around $480,000 as of July and a population increase of nearly 30% from 2020 to 2022.
GoBakingRates.com says many of the featured cities offer a wide variety of amenities, proximity to big cities without the hustle and relatively affordable home prices.
