Totti reveals Italy secret to winning 2006 World Cup

In his latest interview with TMW, Italy legend Francesco Totti recalled a winning 2006 World Cup campaign for the Azzurri, saying that the secret was a strong group, regardless of players’ qualities.

Totti was part of a legendary Italy side that won the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

All the players from that team, plus coach Marcello Lippi, reunited in Viareggio earlier this week.

“It was a nice dinner; everyone was happy, and it was a pleasure to reunite after so much time,” said Totti.

“That team was one of the best, but what made us become great was the group. We all went in the same direction.”

During the same interview, Totti spoke about Daniele De Rossi’s disappointment at being sacked by Roma last month and insisted he was not surprised by Antonio Conte’s results at Napoli.
