Traffic light removal on Washington Way begins Monday

Date:

Longview city workers and contractors will begin removing the traffic signal at the intersection of Washington Way and 20th Avenue on Monday.

The city will replace the traffic light with a rapid rectangular flashing beacon for pedestrians to use while crossing the street and improved lighting. New signs and traffic control measures will let drivers know about the change, according to a city press release.

The crossing beacon is part of the larger series of redesign improvements taking place along Washington Way this summer as part of Longview’s Complete Streets plans.
