Two Man Utd players named in national squad for upcoming Nations League fixtures

Two Manchester United players have been included in the recent England squad announced by the interim boss Lee Carsley.

Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo are included in the international squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures.

The Three Lions are set to face the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Maguire’s Euro 2024 dreams were dashed by injury, while Mainoo stole the spotlight with a dazzling display of skill, earning rave reviews.

Gareth Southgate left his role as the head coach of the side after losing another Euro final.

It’s good news for the Man United duo but heartbreak continues for Marcus Rashford.

The 26-year-old continues to be absent from the national squad due to his poor form.

After a lacklustre 2023/24 season where he managed just seven goals in 33 Premier League appearances, Rashford’s struggles seem far from over.

Despite Erik ten Hag’s confidence in him, starting him in the opening two league fixtures, the forward has yet to find the back of the net.

His starting spot is under intense scrutiny for the Liverpool clash. Amad Diallo started as the right-winger in the recent league clash and scored the equaliser.

He could keep his spot with Alejandro Garnacho replacing Rashford on the left flank.

Garnacho has been effective in both games and has offered more attacking threat than Rashford.

Luke Shaw is another United player who was excluded from the England squad.

The left-back is currently sidelined due to an injury. He is expected to return after the international break.
