UMC Women’s Basketball promotes Ryan Moynihan to Full-time Assistant Coach | KROX

Date:

The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) women’s basketball program announced the promotion of Ryan Moynihan to full-time assistant coach. Moynihan spent the 2023-24 season as a part-time assistant coach for the Golden Eagles.

“We’re very excited to add Coach Ryan to our staff and team full-time this season!,” said Head Coach Natalie Moynihan. “His expertise has invented a whole new look for us in our media presence and has brought our program following to new heights. Ryan is a hard worker, great connector and has knowledge of the game beyond his years. We look forward to having him with us as a full-time member of our Golden Eagle family!”

Last season, Moynihan helped with individual instruction during practices, managing the team’s social media presence and content generation for team-specific pages. He helped break down game film, and contributed strategic game planning, and was on the bench for home games. Moynihan will continue with those responsibilities, but will expand his role, including game scouts, and traveling with the team, among other additional duties.

Prior to UMC, Moynihan spent three years as the assistant director/broadcast operations and digital strategy at Division I Fairfield University. At Fairfield, Moynihan managed all Fairfield live broadcast operations, and Stags Sports Network content. He also produced and directed over 50 ESPN broadcasts and 145 total broadcasts per year.

In addition, Moynihan was an AAU basketball assistant coach for Connecticut Elite for 14U and 10U. He created practice plans, helped players with skill improvement and development, and coached games. He also served as a practice player for Fairfield University women’s basketball from 2015-19, managing practice players, learning opposing team scouts, and practicing with the team daily.

Moynihan earned his Master’s Degree in communications from Fairfield in 2019. He received his Bachelor of Arts in film, television, and media arts from Fairfield in 2017. Moynihan also received minors in sports management, and management.
