Isaiah Denis is the second player to join UNC basketball’s 2025 recruiting class.

Denis, a four-star prospect from Davidson, announced his commitment to the Tar Heels on Saturday afternoon. The 6-foot-5 guard picked UNC over finalists Miami, Ohio State, Pitt, Tennessee and Wake Forest.

In a live announcement on the 247Sports YouTube channel, Denis said the Tar Heels showed him he was a “want and a need,” capable of fitting in with UNC’s uptempo playing style.

Denis and D.C. combo guard Derek Dixon are the current players in head coach Hubert Davis’ latest recruiting class.

Here’s a breakdown of what Denis can provide for the Tar Heels and what’s next for UNC’s 2025 recruiting class.

Isaiah Denis scouting report

A top-50 recruit and the second-ranked player in North Carolina, Denis is the second combo guard to commit to the Tar Heels. Known more for his bucket-getting ability at this stage in his career, Denis is capable of filling it up in a hurry as a consistent shot maker from long range. Capable of scoring off the catch and the dribble, Denis led Davidson Day to the NCISAA 2A state championship as a junior. He had 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists in that game. He’ll have to bulk up at the college level and that could be a potential problem, but Denis is a plus athlete who can score in a multitude of ways.

Hubert Davis, AJ Dybantsa and UNC basketball recruiting class in 2025

Hubert Davis now has two combo guards as the building blocks in UNC’s 2025 recruiting class. It’s a smart move considering RJ Davis is playing his final season in Chapel Hill. Looking ahead at who might join Dixon and Denis, the Tar Heels remain in the mix to land top-ranked recruit AJ Dybantsa. Dybantsa, who has UNC as one of his finalists, visited Chapel Hill in late September. Power forwards Caleb Wilson and Niko Bundalo are also considering the Tar Heels.
