Vince Carter among those honored at 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony

Date:

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Basketball legends made their way to Springfield for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony.

Fans we spoke with traveled as far as the Carolinas just to get a glimpse of some of the game’s biggest names earning their orange jacket and having their names forever memorialized in Springfield, the birthplace of basketball.

This was fan Phillip Blowe’s second enshrinement ceremony, he told us he’s braving the cold and rain for the chance to meet stars featured in the class of 2024 like Michael Cooper and Vince Carter.

Meanwhile, WNBA superfan Jennavie Roman had the chance to get on the red carpet to meet WNBA legend and 2015 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Lisa Leslie.

“She was very nice and today she looked stunning, I’m pretty sure she looks like that all the time though,” Roman said.

A basketball player herself, she says she hopes to play professionally and be a part of basketball history.

“Seeing a big basketball star like that gives me a little sneak peak of what I might be in the future,” she said. “I know will be participating in that one day.”

Some other game legends inducted on Sunday included Chauncy Billups and Charles Smith.
