IANS reported Kambli’s admission to Thane’s Akriti Hospital. “The 52-year-old’s condition is currently stable, though still critical. Further details about his ailment are awaited.”
Members of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning team offered support to Kambli after his health struggles became public. Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar expressed their willingness to help, suggesting rehabilitation as a condition.

Kambli recently discussed his health issues, mentioning a urine problem that led to hospitalisation a month prior.
“I was suffering from a urine problem. It was just flowing. My son, Jesus Cristiano, picked me up and brought me back to my feet. My daughter, who is 10 years old, and my wife came to help me. This happened one month ago. My head started spinning; I collapsed and fell down. The doctor told me to get admitted,” said Kambli in an interaction on Vicky Lalwani’s YouTube channel.
He described the incident, explaining how his family assisted him. Kambli recounted experiencing dizziness and collapsing, prompting medical advice for hospitalisation.
Kambli revealed undergoing two heart surgeries in 2013, with financial support from Sachin Tendulkar.
Kambli’s nine-year international career included 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India. He scored four Test centuries, including two double centuries, becoming the first Indian to achieve consecutive double centuries in Tests.
