Each week, we will present the top performances by local female basketball players from the previous week so that you can vote on our SouthCoast Girls Basketball Player of the Week.
The winner of the 2024-25 Standard-Times Preseason Girls Basketball of the Year was New Bedford’s Zaria Anderson with more than 4,000 votes (52%). Wareham’s Johnny Tompkins was second.
Here’s your chance to vote for the top high school performance among SouthCoast female girls basketball players from Dec. 11-23.

Here’s a look at last week’s top performers (listed in alphabetical order by school):
Hannah Kuriscak, Apponequet
Kuriscak had 17 points against Norton, 15 against Old Rochester and 10 against Middleboro.
Cece Levrault, Apponequet
In three games, Levrault had a combined 41 points and 26 rebounds. She also had five assists against Norton and four assists, two steals against Somerset Berkley and three steals against Old Rochester.
Addison Taylor, Apponequet
Taylor had a team-high 17 points against Somerset Berkley. She also scored 11 against Middleboro.
Madison Alves, Bishop Stang
In a win over Bristol-Plymouth, Alves led the way with 15 points.
Melanie Peckham, Bishop Stang
Peckham had a team-high 15 points against Dighton-Rehoboth.
Kat Cheesebro, Dartmouth
In three games, Cheesebro had a combined 89 points and 26 rebounds to power Dartmouth to three straight wins.
Kaelyn Zuber, Dartmouth
Zuber averaged 11 points in three games. She also had four steals against GNB Voc-Tech and six rebounds against Barnstable.
Laila Pires, GNB Voc-Tech
In a pair of games against Dighton-Rehoboth and Southeastern, Pires had a combined 25 points. She also grabbed 10 rebounds against D-R.
Jai-Ana Silva, GNB Voc-Tech
In three games, Silva had a combined 58 points, including 21 against Dighton-Rehoboth. She also had eight rebounds against D-R and three steals against Southeastern.
Zaria Anderson, New Bedford
In three games, Anderson scored a combined 46 points.
Jonila Ramos, New Bedford
Ramos had a team-high 19 points in a win over Barnstable.
Alaysha Sylvia, New Bedford
Sylvia averaged 11 points in three games.
Emerson Gonet, Old Rochester
Gonet had 18 points against New Bedford and 10 against Apponequet.
Hannah Thorell, Old Rochester
Thorell had a team-high 19 points in ORR’s win over Seekonk. She also scored 11 against new Bedford.
Jordyn Elwood, Wareham
Elwood averaged 20 points in a pair of games against Blue Hills and Dighton-Rehoboth.
Johnny Tompkins, Wareham
Tompkins had 15 points against Blue Hills and 13 against D-R.
