Votes are in: Patriot Ledger/Enterprise’s Boys Golf Preseason Players of the Year

There was an impressive showing of support for the nominees in our boys golf Preseason Player of the Year polls, and the results are in.

On The Patriot Ledger side, 33,031 votes were cast for the 36 nominees. On The Enterprise side, 686 votes were cast for the nine nominees. You can find background on all the nominees in our recent Players to Watch story.

Pembroke’s Sean Holmes finished atop the Ledger polling with 12,648 votes (38 percent of the total). The Titans’ senior captain shot even-par 36 in the season opener and followed that up with a 3-over 39 in Pembroke’s second match. Last week he shot 40 in a loss to Duxbury. Coach Paul Consolati calls him a “leader and true team player.”

North Quincy’s Tom Walsh was runner-up in voting among Ledger golfers. He drew 10,092 votes (30 percent of the total). South Shore Tech’s Brady McCarthy was third with 3,209 votes (almost 10 percent of the total). Also receiving significant support: Carver’s Kyle Hoffman (2,335 votes), Marshfield’s J.D. Ambrose (1,901 votes), Hanover’s Joe DaCosta (757 votes) and Carver’s Finn Manning (606 votes).

On The Enterprise side, Brockton’s Ryan Sinnott was the runaway winner, receiving 633 votes (92 percent of the total). The Boxers’ senior captain finished in the top 40 at last year’s in Division 1 South Sectional tournament.

Bridgewater-Raynham’s Jack Balutis was runner-up, and Oliver Ames’ Braden Shapiro and West Bridgewater’s Aiden Delehoy finished 3-4.
