To news occurring overnight and a house fire, believed to have been sparked by a lithium battery, has gutted a home in Perth’s east, with neighbours trying to battle the flames with backyard hoses.
Firefighters were called to the scene just before 10pm on Serpentine Loop in Gosnells on Tuesday night.
9 News Perth reporter Amber Wilkinson said neighbours were watching a movie, before hearing a loud bang.
Seeing a glow in their yard, they initially believed it was their own home was on fire, before realising it was their neighbours in strife.
They grabbed their hose and attempted to keep the fire away from their own property, also attempting to help put out the flames.
But no matter how much water they used, the flames would not stop.
It is believed that a lithium battery on charge caught fire. Neighbours said they may have seen an e-scooter charging in the backyard.
No one was injured in the fire, and it did not spread to other homes.
