NEW DELHI: Rest of India opener Abhimanyu Easwaran’s dismissal for 191 during the ongoing Irani Cup 2024 clash against Mumbai was one of the highlights of the fourth day’s play at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
The talented Bengal batter, who looked set for a double century, was dismissed by Mumbai spinner Shams Mulani early in the morning session.
Easwaran’s departure at such a crucial juncture drew an animated reaction from him, as he expressed visible frustration and disappointment after being caught by Tanush Kotian at short-fine.
Watch:

Easwaran, who was in sublime form, faced 292 deliveries and hit 16 fours and a solitary six during his magnificent knock.
His dismissal came off the first ball of the 103rd over when Mulani managed to outfox him, ending his marathon innings.
The 29-year-old had formed a formidable 165-run partnership with Dhruv Jurel for the fifth wicket, with Jurel also falling just short of a well-deserved century, scoring 93 runs.
The Rest of India (ROI) team had dominated much of their innings, putting up a solid total of 416 runs before being bowled out.
Easwaran’s dismissal, coming just nine runs short of a double century, was a big blow for the ROI side, but it didn’t take away from his standout performance, which kept the team competitive in the match.
His animated expression conveyed the frustration of coming agonizingly close to a personal landmark, yet his contribution had already made a significant impact on the game.
With Mumbai’s second innings underway, they lead by more than 274 runs at stumps, setting the stage for a tense final day.
