UNC basketball coach Hubert Davis talks Hawaii trip, Maui Invitational
Ahead of UNC basketball’s trip to Hawaii, head coach Hubert Davis previewed the Tar Heels’ trip to Hawaii, which includes the Maui Invitational.
The North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team plays the Auburn Tigers on Tuesday night (11 p.m. ET, ESPN) in the semifinals of the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center in Hawaii.
The 12th-ranked Tar Heels (4-1) and the fourth-ranked Tigers (4-0) rallied from double-digit deficits to stay on the championship side of the bracket in the three-day tournament. UNC has won three of its four games against Auburn, but the Tigers won the latest meeting, beating the Heels by 17 in the 2019 NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 on their way to the Final Four.
The winner of Tuesday’s game will play Memphis (5-0) or Michigan State (5-1) on Wednesday (5 p.m., ESPN) in the championship game of the Maui Invitational.
