Chris Bell and J.J. Starling combined for 49 points against Texas Tech in the Legends Classic 3rd-place game, but ultimately the Orange fell short in a 79-74 loss. Syracuse was unable to recover from Texas’ 21-9 run early in the second half.
Three-point shots have emerged as yet another challenge for this iteration of the Syracuse Orange, which has already struggled defensively this season. After the loss to Texas Tech, Syracuse dropped to making just 25.7% of its 3-point shots, ranking 329th in the nation. The Orange were 6-of-21 from behind the arc against the Red Raiders.
Next up is Cornell, and they mean business. The Big Red have already established themselves as the fastest team in the nation this season, averaging 83 points per game. But they struggle on rebounds, a weakness the Orange will have to try to take advantage of.
