A 51-year-old Washington man, Aaron Brown Myers, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after fatally shooting a 17-year-old boy, Hazrat Ali Rohani. The incident occurred outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods store in a Seattle suburb, where the teen was returning a BB gun.

According to reports, surveillance footage largely contradicts Myers’ description of what happened. According to USA Today, the video shows Myers approaching the teenagers brandishing a pistol, pointing it at them, and then moving swiftly forward. One of the lads lifted his arms in submission and placed a BB pistol on the ground. After pushing a second youngster to the ground, Myers straddled him and aimed his rifle at Rohani, who was holding out his arms, showing that he was unarmed.

According to the magazine, Rohani can be seen in the video retreating away while lowering his right arm to his waist momentarily and raising his left hand. Myers shot Rohani at this same moment, causing him to jerk and fall to the ground. The police arrested Myers on suspicion of second-degree murder without premeditation as a result of this chain of events.

Myers, who represents himself as a certified security guard, informed the police that he thought the teenagers were going to rob the shop, USA Today has said. He stated he was worried about his 13-year-old son’s safety because he was enrolled in a jujitsu class nearby. Myers believed he had to act to protect innocent people and his kid because he did not have time to contact 911, according to the probable cause statement.

When interviewed by police, Myers was described as distraught and crying. He indicated that he thought one of the teens had a “Glock” and was going to commit an armed robbery, the publication has reported. He claimed that despite his commands, the teen appeared to grab a gun, prompting Myers to shoot in self-defense.

Principal David Radford of Kent-Meridian High School identified the victim as Hazrat Ali Rohani. The cops were informed by Rohani’s buddies that they were at the store to replace or return his malfunctioning BB pistol, USA Today said. They said that prior to their companion being shot, they had told Myers that they were carrying BB guns.

Principal Radford expressed deep sadness in a letter to parents and students, noting Rohani’s tragic death. “Our thoughts are with his friends and family during this sensitive time,” Radford stated.

51-year-old Aaron Brown Myers, who claimed to be a certified security guard, said that because of past crimes, he routinely kept “overwatch” in the parking lot, USA Today reported. A murder accusation has now resulted from his acts. Hazrat Ali Rohani, a seventeen-year-old high school student, was the victim. He died while making what was supposed to be a regular trip to return a BB gun.

Myers’ case hasn’t yet made it to King County Superior Court, and his attorney hasn’t been named as of yet. No one was able to get in touch with Myers or his emergency contact.
