(LEARFIELD) – The arrival of NIL money for players and an ever-busier transfer portal has made the offseason much busier for Wisconsin head basketball coach Greg Gard.
Entering his 10th season, Gard says it’s great to return to the court for practice.
The Badgers are a team in transition, losing six players from last year’s roster – including starters Chucky Hepburn and A-J Storr.
Gard says he and his coaches have been impressed by junior wing Xavier Amos who possesses more skill than anticipated.
Seven new players have been battling for their roles during practices in Madison.
The Badgers open their season with an exhibition game against UW-River Falls on October 30th and then play their first non-conference game on Monday, November 4 against Holy Cross.
They play their first Big Ten game of 2024-25 season on Tuesday, Dec. 3 against the Michigan Wolverines.
