CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second straight season, Harvard women’s basketball checked in at third in this Ivy League women’s basketball preseason poll, the conference announced today.
The Crimson land in the third spot with 101 points, along with a first-place vote, trailing only Princeton who received 122 points and 10 first-place votes and Columbia with 110 total points and five of the first-place votes. Rounding out the rankings were Penn (75), Brown (71), Yale (48), Cornell (30), and Dartmouth (19).
Harvard finished third in the conference last season following a 16-12 overall record, including going 9-5 in league play. To close out last year, the Crimson advanced to their sixth straight Ivy Madness, earning the third seed before narrowly falling to Columbia in the semifinals, 61-63.
The Crimson is poised for a strong season after returning nearly its entire team and adding a strong five-athlete first-year class. Included in those returners is standout guard, Harmoni Turner, who earned first-team all-conference accolades for the second straight season last year and was recently named to the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Watch List.
In total, Havard is bringing back 80% of its scoring from last season, including two other of its top four contributors in Katie Krupa and Elena Rodriguez who both averaged doubles digit points while shooting over 50% from the field.
The Crimson will kick off its 2024-25 campaign in less than a month as it welcomes UMass-Amherst to Lavietes Pavilion on Monday, November 4 at 8:00 p.m.
