Xavier held its second practice of the preseason on Wednesday at the Cintas Center.
Just two days in, there’s already a noticeable difference compared to this time last year as the pace and competitive nature of practice has been ratcheted up a few levels.
One of the biggest changes is the speed and intensity with which the players are moving through drills. Last year’s team, bogged down by a mix of late additions and inexperienced players, was still figuring out the system at this point. In contrast, this year’s squad is more confident and efficient, knowing where to be and what’s expected of them. There’s less need for instruction, which has allowed for a faster tempo and crisper practice overall.
