Yamal explains his frustration while being taken off, talks Flick and Lewandowski

Lamine Yamal produced perhaps one of his more muted performances this season, in Barcelona’s recent win over Alaves.

The young forward was less involved than in his previous matches, despite showing occasional flares of excellence.

Yamal talks about his performance vs Alaves

In a recent interaction, Yamal talked about his performance against Alaves, expressing that he was frustrated with himself, especially after getting subbed off.

“I was not happy with my game against Alaves, that’s why I was annoyed with myself when I was substituted. I demand a lot and that’s the line I must follow to play at 100%,” he said (h/t Goal).

Despite his substitution, though, Yamal has no qualms with Flick. In fact, he even heaped praise on the German, adding, “Flick is very close to everyone, to those who play more and also those who play less. He gives a lot of confidence and that shows in the team.”

Yamal on Lewandowski & Iniesta

Yamal went on to talk about his teammates, including Robert Lewandowski. He also commented on Andres Iniesta’s recent retirement.

Talking about Lewandowski, Yamal said, “Everything you give him he puts in. We are very happy for him.”

Yamal also talked about his growing fame, especially after Euro 2024. “Since EURO 2024 the change has been bigger, now everything is more complicated. I can’t go out so much with my mother anymore, everyone knows us,” he said.

Finally, the Barcelona winger offered his thoughts on Iniesta’s retirement, labelling him as a club legend.

“Iniesta? I was very young when he scored the World Cup goal, and I don’t remember, but I do remember having seen him play with Messi and Neymar. He’s a legend who will be missed,” he concluded.
