Harwood Youth Basketball is looking forward to another winter of basketball and organizers are hoping for a strong turnout for sign-ups this fall.
Registration is now open through Oct. 6 — earlier this year to give organizers time to assemble teams, ensure uniforms arrive in time for the start of the season, and recruit the appropriate number of coaches.
Youngsters in grades 1-6 interested in having fun, getting exercise through the winter months and learning the game of basketball should have their parents register online at: go.teamsnap.com/forms/446609.
Teams will be organized separately for boys and girls and in most cases separately for Waterbury and Mad River Valley players.
Age groups and fees for each level are listed below. Fees cover insurance, equipment, referees, and uniforms that players will get to keep. Scholarships are available — contact Harwood Youth Basketball leaders for details.

Grades 1-2: Separate Mad River Valley boys and girls teams will meet primarily mid-week. Waterbury separate boys and girls teams will meet on Saturday mornings and possibly for a mid-week practice. Fee: $75 per player.

Grades 3-4: All teams at this level will hold two practices per week and one game. This level will have separate teams for boys and girls in both Waterbury and the Mad River Valley. Fee: $125 per player.

Grades 5-6: Teams at this level will have two practices and one game per week. There will be separate boys teams in the Valley and in Waterbury. There will be one girls 5-6 team for all players from both Waterbury and the Valley. Fee: $125 per player.
Practices will begin in early November. Games schedules will be created in early November and games will begin in late November / early December. The season runs until the week before February school break.
Harwood Youth Basketball Co-Presidents Brian Godfrey and Danielle Kent urge parents to consider volunteering to coach. “Patience, enthusiasm, and availability are just as important as experience, and many hands make for lighter work and more fun!” they said.
