🚨 Jonas Eidevall resigns as Arsenal Women’s head coach

Arsenal have confirmed that Jonas Eidevall has resigned as head coach of their women’s side.

Eidevall succeeded Joe Montemurro at the WSL outfit in 2021 and guided the club to successive Conti Cups in 2023 and 2024.

But the 41-year-old has stepped down after a difficult start to the season which has seen them win just one of their first four matches of the Women’s Super League season, and included a 5-2 Women’s Champions League drubbing by Bayern Munich.

β€œWe’d like to say a huge thank you to Jonas for his hard work and dedication to Arsenal Football Club over the past three years,” said director of women’s football Clare Wheatley.

β€œJonas has brought us back-to-back trophies in the last two seasons, together with many memorable moments on the pitch.

β€œWe wish Jonas and his family the best of health, happiness and success for the future.

β€œWe have full confidence in RenΓ©e to take responsibility for the team in the interim period.”

First-team assistant coach RenΓ©e Slegers will take temporary charge during the search for Eidevall’s permanent successor.
