Palmeiras have completed the signing of Orlando City star Facundo Torres, the Brazilian club announced on Friday.
Torres will sign a five-year deal with the club, keeping him in São Paulo through to the end of 2029.
The Uruguayan has excelled in Orlando, bagging 37 goals and 20 assists in 95 regular season games with the club, as well as leading the side to a U.S. Open Cup title.
Palmeiras’ move for the 24-year-old was nearly hijacked by Liga MX giants Cruz Azul, according to reports around North America, but the Verdão have fended off their transfer rivals.
Palmeiras will reportedly dish out up to $14 million for the attacker, a record signing for the club, as well as a record sale for Orlando City.
Orlando is also set to retain a sell-on clause on the Uruguayan international.
