1 person dead in crash along I-10 in West El Paso

UPDATE: Eastbound lanes reopened around 5 a.m. and westbound lanes just before 7 a.m. after a fatal crash on I-10 West between Sunland Park and Executive Center closed the highway for hours, according to TxDOT.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person is dead after a crash along Interstate 10 in West El Paso early Saturday morning, Dec. 14, El Paso Police said.

The crash happened along I-10 West between Executive Center and Sunland Park Drive, police said. Police sent out an alert to media at about 12:30 a.m. but did not say exactly when the crash happened.

Police confirmed there was one fatality but didn’t say how many vehicles were involved or what led up to the crash.

Special Traffic Investigations did respond to the scene. This specialized unit typically responds to crashes that have serious injuries or fatalities.

TxDOT said that I-10 was closed in both directions before Sunland Park because of the crash. Clearing time is until further notice.
