2 teens arrested in fatal shooting of popular Kansas City Irish chef Shaun Brady

Date:

Two teenage boys were arrested within an hour after the popular Kansas City chef Shaun Brady was fatally shot outside the Irish restaurant he owned in the Brookside neighborhood, a police spokesman said Thursday.

The teens, along with the vehicle believed to have been used in the killing, were found a short distance away in Kansas City’s Midtown, said Sgt. Phil DiMartino with the Kansas City Police Department.

The teens were being held pending further investigation. Investigators were working with prosecutors to determine applicable charges, DiMartino said. The investigation into Brady’s killing is ongoing.

Brady owned and operated Brady & Fox Restaurant & Lounge, at 751 E. 63rd St., with chef and friend Graham Farris. He was taking out trash Wednesday just after 5 p.m. when when he encountered several people standing around a parked car, DiMartino said.

Brady was shot as an interaction between the group of suspects escalated, police said.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
