2024-2025 Nevada Wolf Pack men’s basketball schedule released

Date:

RENO, Nev. (Nevada Athletics) – The Nevada Men’s Basketball program and Head Coach Steve Alford have announced the Wolf Pack’s 2024-25 schedule

While non-conference dates are set, the dates for the Wolf Pack’s Mountain West slate are subject to change once the conference’s TV broadcast schedule is announced. Tip times for all of Nevada’s home games, and road conference matchups, will be set once the TV schedule is made public.

In non-conference action, the Pack will play an 11-game slate, highlighted by seven home games, and a trip to South Carolina to participate in the 2024 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic. Among the top opponents coming to Lawlor Events Center before the New Year are Washington (Nov. 9), Santa Clara (Nov. 16), and Washington State (Dec. 2).

The Pack opens the 2024 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic Nov. 21 against Vanderbilt, with the eight-team field also including top teams as Drake, Florida Atlantic, Miami, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, and VCU.

Nevada has been exceptional in multi-team events under Alford, most recently winning the 2023 Diamond Head Classic after defeating Temple, TCU, and Georgia Tech en route to securing the tournament title. Overall, the Pack has compiled a record of 14-2 and won four championships in MTEs under Alford’s watch (2023 Diamond Head Classic, 2021 Crossover Classic, 2020 Golden Window Classic, 2019 Paradise Jam).

“This is a demanding non-conference schedule that hopefully once again prepares us for Mountain West play. Having Washington and Washington State visiting Lawlor is a plus, and our MTE event in Charleston is loaded with good teams and has all games televised nationally, which will give us good exposure,” Alford said. “Playing 20 league games for the first time reduces our non-conference to just 11 games. These 11 games need to have us positioned and ready to begin Mountain West play on Dec. 21.”

For the first time, the Mountain West will play a 20-game, true double round-robin schedule in 2024-25. The Wolf Pack is scheduled to begin its conference trek at Lawlor Dec. 21, hosting Colorado State. Nevada plays twice more ahead of the New Year, visiting Wyoming after Christmas then hosting Utah State tentatively on New Year’s Eve.

The Pack begins 2025 with two-straight on the road, visiting New Mexico and Fresno State, before returning home to face Air Force and San José State. January ends with the Pack traveling to Utah State, hosting San Diego State (tentatively set for Jan. 25), then heading to Boise State.

February is scheduled to open up with the first of two Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union matchups with UNLV, tentatively set for Feb. 1 at Lawlor. From there, Nevada travels to Air Force then returns home to host Fresno State before two in a row on the road at San José State and Colorado State.

Into the home stretch, the Wolf Pack hosts Boise State and Wyoming at Lawlor to end February, then turns its attention to three games in March. The March stretch begins with a return trip to UNLV, tentatively set for March 1, followed by Senior Day at Lawlor against New Mexico (tentatively set for March 4) and the regular-season finale at San Diego State (tentatively set for March 8).

The Wolf Pack is coming off a tremendous season in which the Pack earned its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and completed the year with an overall record of 26-8.

Alford and his staff have brought in a plethora of new talent this offseason, as Nevada aims to compete for a Mountain West Championship and secure the program’s third-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
